Robyn,

Terri, Lauren's mom here. My best friend is an expat's wife currently living in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. She has had opportunities to travel overseas and has taken really great pictures and is looking to hone her photography skills. She really likes your work and would like to chat with you about what kind of camera she should look for (she is going to buy a new one because she left her digital here in the states); she is interested in actually taking classes in photography while overseas. You can link to her blog through Lauren's blog, it is "tracey in thailand" (the last place they lived). I would appreciate it so much if you could give her some direction, she had specifically asked Lauren and/or I to get in contact with you for your equipment recommendations. Thanks so much!

Robyn, Thanks so much for your informative comment on my blog. That's exactly the advice I've been seeking. I'm just now moving beyond my point and shoot camera and am in the market for my first SLR so that I can take lessons. After doing some internet research, I've been torn between Nikon and Canon. The only thing I know for sure is that the Canon feels best in my hands...more comfortable, while the Nikon feels cramped. Maybe I have big hands! My budget is probably best suited for the Rebel Xsi though I could stretch it a bit more. Since you mentioned the 40D, I'll take a look at that one too.
What a treat it's been to see the pictures you've taken of Lauren and her sweet family. They're excellent! In my dreams I hope to capture pictures like those.
Thanks again for your help.
